There are moments in life when your soul whispers something bold, wild, and brave and if you’re quiet enough to listen, you might find yourself packing up your life, business, and babies to chase that whisper halfway across the world.

This summer, my family and I are moving to Senegal.

It’s a decision wrapped in emotion, purpose, a little bit of chaos, and a whole lot of love. People often ask, “Why Senegal?” The truth is that this isn’t just about a change of scenery. It’s about returning to something. It’s about legacy. It’s about vision. It’s about deep, deep alignment.

A Dream Rooted in Purpose

As the founder of The Seny Collection, I’ve spent the last few years building a fashion brand that’s more than just beautiful pieces; it’s about storytelling, heritage, and craftsmanship. My goal has always been to honor African artisans and elevate their work on a global stage. But building something meaningful from afar has its limits.

Moving to Senegal isn’t just a business move; it’s a heart move. I want to be close to the hands and hearts behind our collections. I want to drink the tea, visit the markets, feel the textures, and speak the language of rhythm and resilience that lives in the artistry of my people.

This move enables me to co-create in real-time, building trust, deepening relationships, and being present where the magic happens.

Doing It With My Girls

Now, let’s be realistic: moving internationally with three daughters, aged 4, 5, and 7, is no joke. It’s not just about passports and packing cubes. It’s about emotions, bedtime routines, missing aunties and friends, and all the “but what ifs” that come with being a mama.

But I also know that this is a gift.

Our daughters will grow up hearing the drums, tasting the jollof (the best jollof), running barefoot on red earth, breathing in the ocean air, and learning the beauty of an identity that spans continents. They will see their mama building a dream not perfectly, but wholeheartedly.

This move is for them, too. So they can see what courage looks like up close.

Leaving St. Louis, Holding What Matters

St. Louis has been good to us. It's where I built friendships that feel like family, where I gave birth to children and a vision. It’s hard to leave the known, the familiar, the village we’ve built here. But I believe the town can grow across oceans.

And the beautiful part? We're not leaving everything behind. We're expanding our story.

What’s Ahead

Over the next few months, I’ll be sharing the behind-the-scenes of our relocation, the messy bits, the magical moments, and everything in between. Through The Seny Mama Chronicles, I want to give you a front-row seat to this unfolding journey.

Whether you're a fellow mom, an entrepreneur, a creative, or someone in the middle of your leap, I hope our story reminds you that it’s okay to pivot. It’s OK to outgrow where you’ve been. It’s OK to want more and go after it.
